SwitcherYu Software Privacy Statement
This page provides the privacy statement for users of SwitcherYu software (application identifier: net.theprimemachine.switcheryu). This statement applies to SwitcherYu software, not to the website where this statement is posted.
SwitcherYu is designed as an offline-first, privacy-conscious multilingual conversation app. Its default mode is local to your device. The app does not require user accounts, does not provide a cloud service, and does not send conversation data to The Prime Machine Server. Although this statement is published on The Prime Machine website, SwitcherYu does not use The Prime Machine Server for storing or processing SwitcherYu conversations.
1. Local-first and sandboxed design
SwitcherYu is intended to work primarily on your device, within the normal app sandbox provided by Apple’s operating systems. In ordinary use, conversations are created, stored, and managed locally on your device. The app is designed so that you can use it without creating an account or sending your conversation history to a remote service operated by The Prime Machine.
2. No account system, no cloud account, no public profile
SwitcherYu does not require you to register for an account with The Prime Machine. The app does not provide social profiles, public posting, follower systems, or identity-based messaging features.
3. Nearby hosted sessions
SwitcherYu can optionally be used in a nearby hosted session, in which one device acts as host and other nearby devices join that hosted conversation. In such a session, the host device is authoritative for the shared conversation state.
If you join a hosted session:
- messages you submit are shared with the host;
- the host may share conversation content locally with other participant devices in that session;
- other participants may be able to retain a local copy of conversation content shown on their device;
- the host controls authoritative deletion and correction within the hosted conversation state.
For these reasons, you should not use nearby hosted sessions to share confidential, sensitive, or private information unless you fully trust the participants and understand the risks of local sharing.
4. Translation handling
SwitcherYu is designed to work with language and translation capabilities provided on Apple devices where available. Translation support may depend on language availability provided by the operating system, including language resources managed by Apple.
During a nearby hosted session, the host may request translation assistance from other participant devices when needed to complete conversation translations. This means that text from the shared conversation may be shared locally within that nearby session to another participant device for translation processing, and the resulting candidate translation may then be returned to the host and shared back to session participants as part of the hosted conversation.
Accordingly:
- text in a hosted session may be processed not only by the host device but also by another participant device acting as a translation helper;
- translation availability may vary between devices depending on installed language support;
- if you join a hosted session, your device may be asked to process and translate text that other participants submitted;
- if your device contributes translation results, those results may be incorporated into the shared conversation by the host.
SwitcherYu is designed around local and on-device use, but Apple’s translation features may in some cases request internet access or system-managed downloads in order to enable or support translation on the device. Such behavior is governed by Apple’s own platform and services, not by The Prime Machine.
5. Sharing, exporting, and copying
SwitcherYu includes user-initiated sharing features. You may choose to share conversation text using the standard system share sheet, including exports of a current language view or multi-language conversation text. If you choose to share content in this way, that content may leave the app and be handled by the destination you select.
SwitcherYu also supports user-initiated copying of message text to the system clipboard. Once copied, that text is handled by the operating system and may be available to other apps or system features in accordance with platform behavior.
6. Limits of deletion and privacy in shared use
SwitcherYu is privacy-conscious, but no shared-session feature can guarantee secrecy between participants.
If text is shown to other devices in a hosted session, participants may read it, remember it, copy it, export it, take screenshots, record it externally, or retain their own local copy. The Prime Machine cannot control what participants do with information they have seen.
Similarly, deleting a message from a hosted conversation does not guarantee removal from screenshots, copied text, notes, exports, or any other records that a participant may already have made.
7. Camera access for QR joining
If you choose to join a nearby hosted session by scanning a QR code, SwitcherYu may request camera access for that purpose. Camera access is used only for QR-based joining when you choose to use that feature.
8. No guarantee of complete translation availability
Some translations may be unavailable, incomplete, deferred, or fail. In some cases, the app may show source-language text instead. Language support may depend on your device, your operating system, and the language resources available on that device.
9. Third-party and platform dependencies
SwitcherYu may rely on Apple operating-system services and frameworks for local storage, nearby communication, camera-based QR scanning, language handling, and translation support. The privacy handling of those platform components is governed by Apple’s own policies and system design. You are advised to review Apple’s applicable privacy information as well.
10. Sensitive information
SwitcherYu is not designed as a secure channel for transmitting confidential, medical, financial, legal, or other highly sensitive information. Users should not rely on the app as a substitute for a secure records system or a confidential communications platform.
11. Changes
This privacy statement may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the software or its operation. The latest version posted by The Prime Machine is the version that applies.
