321Chorus is designed to be a private, lightweight, device-first app for coordinated speaking and recording activities.

Our privacy approach
321Chorus is built to keep your recordings under your control.

What 321Chorus does
  • Records audio on your own device
  • Stores recorded audio in the app’s private sandboxed storage
  • Lets you review, manage, delete, and share recordings manually
  • Helps nearby users coordinate synchronized speaking sessions
  • Allows a host to share a speaking task topic and session timing with a group
What 321Chorus does not do
Does not upload your recordings to any server
Does not use cloud storage
Does not send your recordings to the developer
Does not automatically save your recordings to another app or cloud service
Does not transmit your recorded audio files to other participants’ devices
Does not create an account for you
Does not require login
Does not sell your data
No central server
321Chorus is designed without a central recording backend.

That means:
  • there is no central server collecting your recordings
  • there is no account-based recording sync
  • there is no remote gallery of your recordings
If you make a recording using 321Chorus, that recording stays on your device unless you choose to share/export it yourself.

How devices communicate
When people use 321Chorus together in a nearby hosted session, the app may exchange only the minimal information needed to coordinate the session, such as:
  • participant/device display names
  • ready/not-ready state
  • microphone-ready state
  • preparation timing information
  • recording timing information
  • task/prompt information needed for the shared session
This coordination is used only so a group can prepare for and begin a synchronized speaking activity together.

321Chorus does not send the actual recorded audio files between devices.

What is shared between devices
For nearby synchronized sessions, 321Chorus may share:
  • participant/device display names
  • readiness state
  • microphone readiness state
  • preparation and recording timing information
  • the shared task title and prompt used for the session
What is not shared
  • your recorded audio files are not automatically sent to other participants
  • your recordings are not uploaded to a central server
  • there is no remote gallery of your recordings
  • recordings can only be reviewed within the app on the device used for making the recording, unless you choose to share the audio file yourself
Sharing is always user-controlled
If you want a recording outside the app, you must choose to share/export it yourself.

For example, you may use the iOS share sheet to:
  • save a copy to Files
  • send it by AirDrop
  • send it in Messages or Mail
  • upload it to another app or storage service you choose
These actions happen only when you explicitly choose them.

Private local storage
Recordings made in 321Chorus are stored in the app’s own private storage area on your device.

This means:
  • they are available inside 321Chorus
  • they are not automatically published elsewhere
  • they remain separate unless you manually export/share them

Deleting recordings
You can delete individual recordings, selected recordings, or groups of privately stored recordings from within 321Chorus.

Deleting a recording from 321Chorus removes it from the app’s private storage.

If you previously shared or exported a copy elsewhere, that external copy is not affected.

Permissions
321Chorus may request:
  • microphone access, so that you can record speaking tasks
  • local network access, so that nearby devices can discover and coordinate hosted sessions
If you deny microphone access, recording features will not work.
If you deny local network access, nearby hosted session discovery/coordination features will not work.

321Chorus does not need an account to function.

Educational and informal use
321Chorus may be useful for classroom activities, practice tasks, rehearsal, or informal speaking sessions. Because it uses a peer-based timing mechanism, it is best seen as a fun, practical, informal tool rather than a replacement for other systems that may be used for important formal assessments.

Languages
The app interface is in English, but speaking prompts and recordings may be used in any language.

Children and families
321Chorus is intended as a simple speaking and recording tool. If children use the app, they should do so with appropriate supervision based on age and local expectations.

Changes
If the app’s privacy behavior changes in the future, this privacy statement should be updated to reflect that clearly.

1) Does 321Chorus upload my recordings anywhere?
No.
321Chorus does not upload your recordings to a developer server, cloud backend, or central database.
Your recordings stay on your own device unless you decide to share/export them yourself.

2) Are recordings sent to other people in the session?
No.
321Chorus coordinates timing, readiness, and shared task information between nearby devices, but it does not send the recorded audio files to other participants.
Each device records and stores its own audio locally.

3) What information is shared between devices?
For a nearby hosted session, 321Chorus may exchange only the minimal information needed to coordinate the activity, such as:
  • participant/device display names
  • ready/not-ready status
  • microphone-ready status
  • preparation time
  • recording time
  • the shared task title/prompt
This is used only to help the group take part in the same synchronized speaking activity.

4) What is not shared?
321Chorus does not automatically share:

7) Can the host control when the prompt is shown?
Yes.
321Chorus is designed for shared speaking tasks where the host can set up the task and control aspects of timing and prompt visibility.
This can be useful when:
  • a teacher wants students to prepare before seeing the full prompt
  • students want to test each other with topics
  • a group wants a more structured or playful speaking challenge

8) Where are recordings stored?
Recordings are stored in 321Chorus’s own private in-app storage on the device that made the recording.

This means:
  • they can be reviewed within 321Chorus
  • they are not automatically sent elsewhere
  • they are not automatically gathered into a central session folder for everyone

9) If everyone records separately, how do we gather the recordings together?
The simplest way is for each participant to share/export their chosen recordings manually after the session.

Common ways include:
  • AirDrop to one organizer’s device
  • sending files in Messages or Mail
  • uploading to a shared folder in a cloud service chosen by the group
  • importing them into another app chosen by the group
321Chorus intentionally does not do this automatically, because the app is designed to stay private and device-based.

10) What’s a good way for a group to use 321Chorus?
A practical workflow is:
  • One person acts as the host
  • The host sets the task topic, prompt visibility, and timing
  • Others join the nearby hosted session
  • Everyone checks that they are ready and microphone-ready
  • The host starts the synchronized session
  • Each participant speaks and records on their own device
  • Afterward, each person reviews their own recording privately
  • If desired, participants manually share selected recordings afterward
This can work well for classroom speaking, oral practice, rehearsals, or informal group activities.

11) Is 321Chorus suitable for formal assessment?
Not really as a primary formal assessment platform.
Because 321Chorus uses a peer-based timing mechanism, it is better seen as a fun, informal, practical addition for practice, rehearsal, and lightweight coordinated activities.

If you need:
  • centralized submission
  • institution-managed storage
  • formal assessment workflows
stricter reliability guarantees then other tools or services may be more appropriate.

12) Does 321Chorus require an account or sign-in?
No.
321Chorus does not require account creation or login to use its core features.

13) Can I delete recordings from the app?
Yes.
321Chorus includes tools to delete recordings stored in the app.
This affects only the copies stored inside 321Chorus. If you previously exported or shared a recording elsewhere, that external copy will remain there.

14) Why doesn’t 321Chorus collect everyone’s recordings automatically?
Because privacy and simplicity are core design choices.
Automatic collection would require things like:
  • file transfer between devices
  • central storage or more complex syncing
  • additional privacy and management concerns
